Arriving all the way from Hawaii, Eggs ‘n Things is the latest cafe to set up shop at Plaza Singapura. Just like its name suggests, the casual eatery is all about eggy dishes… and other (breakfast) things, like pancakes and waffles.
Opened in 1974 in Waikiki, Hawaii, the brand has so far only spread to Japan, with 19 outlets in the country. That makes Singapore its first outpost in Southeast Asia.
Tucked away on the third floor of the Orchard mall, the cafe emphasizes its use of freshly baked bread, organic and locally sourced beef and chicken, and house-made sauces with no added flavoring or preservatives.
On the menu, you’ll find generously-sized items such as pancakes or waffles with a tower of whipped cream, fruits, and macadamia nuts ($19.90), cheese omelette with spinach, bacon, and a side of roasted potatoes ($19.90), beef steak and eggs ($25.90), and a Hawaiian Loco Moco dish ($18.90) consisting of rice, a hamburger patty doused in gravy, and two fried eggs.
Drinks-wise, you get a choice between milkshakes, organic cold pressed fruit juices, smoothies, free trade organic tea, and coffee made from a blend of Brazilian, Mexican, and Indonesian beans.
It’s all pretty standard stuff for a cafe, but Eggs ‘n Things will probably appeal to the egg enthusiasts among us — or anyone who’s exhausted Plaza Singapura’s restaurant directory.
Eggs ‘n Things is at #03-79/83 Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Rd, 6835-9988. Daily 10am-10pm.
