New brunch and dinner menu at Rokeby Bistro features lobster risotto, duck confit and more

Located just off Upper Serangoon Road is a quiet little street filled with cafes. Nestled among private houses, some of the more notable names include Wimbly Lu and Rokeby Bistro. The latter was conceptualised three years ago by a husband-and-wife duo who named their bistro after a cafe-studded street in Perth, Western Australia.

If you haven’t been to Rokeby in a while, you might be surprised by its revamped look and new menu for brunch and dinner. The cosy space is brightly-lit and welcoming in the afternoon; after sunset, it turns into a chillax hangout, ideal for groups of friends or couples on a romantic date.

On the brunch menu, which is offered from morning till 5pm, classic items like waffles with eggs and bacon ($11.90) sit pretty, alongside new dishes like beef cheek polenta benedict ($17.90), corned beef hash with a sunny side up egg ($13.90) and shakshuka ($15.90), a skillet filled with chorizo sausage and eggs in a Mediterranean tomato mix.

If you’re just there for small bites, you can’t go wrong with truffle parmesan fries ($9.90) or foie gras with fig ($15.90). But if you wanna venture out a little, try the vegemite chicken drumlets ($11.90) and dig into crispy fried pieces coated in a sticky sauce.

For dinner, the entire menu has been spruced up. You can choose to stick with dishes that you know and love, like duck confit ($23.90) and braised beef short ribs ($25.90), or go for something a little different. We’d recommend the lobster risotto — for $34.90, you get half a baked lobster mornay sitting atop a bed of melt-in-your-mouth creamy risotto. It’s worth every calorie.

Meat lovers can order the pan-seared ribeye steak with bourbon sauce ($31.90) or oven-baked lamb rack ($24.90). Other items include the mentaiko soft shell crab burger ($20.90) and squid ink aglio olio pasta with pan-seared scallops ($22.90).

Still got stomach space left? Try desserts like the molten lava cake with ice cream ($9), tiramisu with Bailey’s ($5) or Earl Grey crème brûlée ($4).

Rokeby Bistro is at 15-9 Jalan Riang, 9106-0437. Tue-Fri 11am-10pm, Sat & Sun 9am-10pm.
