It’s been more than two decades, but Mr Softee Chendol has finally made its official comeback, after quietly and sneakily appearing at several 7-Eleven stores a couple months ago. The soft-serve treat first debuted at 7-Eleven in the early 1980s, giving fans across the island a sugar rush until it was discontinued in 2000.
With its return, the ice cream machines themselves are a nostalgic throwback to the ’80s, designed with classic arcade game Space Invaders in mind. You’ll even hear the tinkle of the retro video game’s jingle when you press the ‘start’ button.
