We may have influenced Barack Obama and PM Lee to dine at The Summerhouse. Just maybe.

Now, now, hear us out. It’s quite a long shot, but maybe, just maybe, we played a part in the decision for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to have his dinner with former US President Barack Obama at upscale Seletar Airbase eatery, The Summerhouse.

In case you weren’t aware, PM Lee caught up with the former commander-in-chief last night — it’s the first time they’ve met since APEC 2016 in Lima, Peru. Obama was in town for a short stopover to speak at a private lecture at Shangri-La Hotel, making this his first visit to our shores since he left the White House.

Although it wasn’t mentioned where they wined and dined, the decor did look a wee bit familiar. And our suspicions were confirmed when Joseph Ong, the managing director of 1-Group, which owns The Summerhouse among other F&B concepts, pretty much confirmed that his restaurant did play host to the two political giants.

This isn’t exactly an odd choice (The Summerhouse is a stunning place, after all) — but as we recall, PM Lee’s wife Ho Ching shared our piece on the restaurant back in February on her Facebook page. Ong did so as well.

Considering that her personal (and verified) Facebook page is a strangely unending stream of shared videos, articles, and memes without a care for curation or public relations at all, we don’t know if it’s actually her handling the postings personally. Nonetheless, there is a case for the link between what she posted and where her husband and the 44th US president had dinner last night. It’s a very slight possibility, we know — but sure, we’ll take it.
