Yep, you heard that right. The popular reality TV cooking competition is finally debuting on our shores, and it’s looking for bright-eyed, bushy-tailed home cooks to battle it out for the coveted title of Singapore’s first MasterChef.

So if you’ve been an avid fan of the show and you know your way around the kitchen pretty well (i.e. you’re not an idiot sandwich), you’re more than welcome to toss your name in the running. Just take note that all contestants have to be amateurs, so anyone who’s ever held a job in a kitchen will not be eligible. Those with formal tertiary or other professional catering qualifications acquired in the last 10 years cannot apply either.

Oh, and the contest is only open to Singapore citizens and permanent residents aged 18 and above at the time of filming.

The closing date for entries is midnight on Mar. 25, and all selected contestants will have to make themselves available for filming that could take up to four weeks, starting from Apr. 26.

Not much else has been revealed about MasterChef Singapore yet — other than the fact that it will, of course, be broadcast on MediaCorp (although strangely enough, it’ll show on Channel 8).

So if you’re wondering who the judges will be — probably not the amazing, shouty Gordon Ramsay — or what kinds of challenges they’ll throw at the contestants, watch this space for updates.
