Heads up, fellow gluttons. London’s famous Burger & Lobster chain is officially debuting its first outlet in Singapore at Jewel Changi Airport tomorrow. It’s a little late to game, considering most brands have been open at the gigantic multiplex since mid-April, but hey, better late than never. At the very least, the eatery could draw some of the die-hard burger fiends away from Shake Shack and its two-hour queues.
Situated in a plush spot on Canopy Park at the top floor of Jewel, the restaurant looks out on the majestic Shiseido Forest Valley, with prime views of the HSBC Rain Vortex. But a seat amidst the handmade crackle-glazed tiles, deep reds, and lobster tanks of the 81-seater comes at a price.
The popular Original Roll, with lobster chunks stuffed in a buttery brioche bun, goes for $40. And if you’re feeling generous, the Original Lobster, at $65, gets you the fresh meat of crustaceans flown in from Nova Scotia, Canada. Steamed or grilled, and drizzled in a lemon garlic sauce, the dish is paired with a salad and fries. Meanwhile, the locally-inspired creation (because of course there’s one) is a Sambal Glazed Lobster ($65) that drenches the creature in a mix of dried shrimp, chilli, and spices.
If you’re more of a beef-and-bun kind of person, The Mayfair ($25) sandwiches a 170g Nebraskan patty with house-made pickles, onions, and a secret sauce.
On the drinks list, the menu includes gin and tonic ($15), a highlight called the Lillemoni ($14) made of grapefruit, aperitif wine, and tonic, and the non-alcoholic pineapple iced tea ($9), a blend of black tea, pineapple purée, lemon juice, and palm sugar.
