If you’re tired of all things nasi lemak from last year, chomp on piping hot bowls of laksa udon for a change. Yep, a coffee shop in the west has been serving up Laksudon (laksa udon, $4-$6), with fat, chewy noodles swimming alongside prawns, sliced cucumber, bean sprouts, shredded omelet, and a dollop of sambal in the aromatic broth.
It’s brought to you by Halal-certified eatery Jenggood Jom Makan, a stall at Padi Emas in Jurong East, which also offers other fusion menu items such as roti kirai served with Indonesian meatballs in spicy sauce, and udon with curry chicken and potatoes.
But best of all is the monster serving of lobster laksa ($34.90), which is basically laksa udon with mussels, prawns, squid, and an entire lobster thrown in.
The only thing you’ll have to worry about here is whether the “Lakster Deluxe” will still be there by the time you get to the eatery — it’s only available for dinner from Fridays to Sundays, and the popular dish obviously sells out rather quickly.
Jenggood Jom Makan is at Blk 214, Jurong East St 21, 8722-5341. Mon, Tues & Thurs 6:30am-7pm, Fri-Sun 6:30am-10pm.
