If you’re tired of all things nasi lemak from last year, chomp on piping hot bowls of laksa udon for a change. Yep, a coffee shop in the west has been serving up Laksudon (laksa udon, $4-$6), with fat, chewy noodles swimming alongside prawns, sliced cucumber, bean sprouts, shredded omelet, and a dollop of sambal in the aromatic broth.

It’s brought to you by Halal-certified eatery Jenggood Jom Makan, a stall at Padi Emas in Jurong East, which also offers other fusion menu items such as roti kirai served with Indonesian meatballs in spicy sauce, and udon with curry chicken and potatoes.

But best of all is the monster serving of lobster laksa ($34.90), which is basically laksa udon with mussels, prawns, squid, and an entire lobster thrown in.

From the guy that brought us the Laksudon (Laksa Udon) 🍜comes his most epic dish yet: the Lak-ster Deluxe or lobster laksa for short. It’s definitely “go big or go home for @jenggoodjommakan. _ The laksudon is already easily one of the most satisfying dishes I’ve had this year, but the Lak-ster is possibly the most memorable. And it’s not because I just ate it last night. Look at this beast: it’s loaded with mussels, prawns, squid, and a whole lobster! All on top of the lip-smacking good laksa udon. For $34.90, the dish is really good value for money, especially since the lobster is so meaty and just enough portion for 2 pax. We also scored some roe in ours. _ The lobster has somehow shed it’s “luxury” status this year, with many familiar dishes now sporting the crustacean. Most notably, the Nasi lemak. The lakster has the potential to be the craziest food invention yet, and we now have a halal one, thanks to @jenggoodjommakan _ Address: Blk 214 Jurong East St 21 LAKSTER only available on Fri-Sun 5pm to 10pm _ #thehalaleater #halalsg #halalsgfood #sghalal #sghalalfood #foodiesg #whati8today #onthetable #sgfood #sgfoodies #sgfoodporn #sgfoodblogger #sgfoodunion #foodgawker #yoloeat

The only thing you’ll have to worry about here is whether the “Lakster Deluxe” will still be there by the time you get to the eatery — it’s only available for dinner from Fridays to Sundays, and the popular dish obviously sells out rather quickly.

Jenggood Jom Makan is at Blk 214, Jurong East St 21, 8722-5341. Mon, Tues & Thurs 6:30am-7pm, Fri-Sun 6:30am-10pm.
