When Kilo Kallang vacated its Kampong Bugis spot in September this year, its supporters were already looking forward to its resurrection — which speaks volumes about the restaurant, which originally opened in 2011. Thankfully, the wait wasn’t very long, because Kilo Kitchen just resurfaced this month at a more accessible location: Duxton Road.

Taking over the space left behind by much-beloved Meatliquor, the newly-relocated eatery is now a lot closer to its sister brand Kilo Lounge, which sits along Tanjong Pagar Road. So if you’re really a fan, you could have dinner at one place and drinks at the other.

Maintaining its industrial vibes, the Duxton unit cleans up the previously gritty-looking burger joint, with decor details like hand-sanded concrete walls, brass elements, recycled timber, polished marble, Italian ceramic tiles, and vintage rugs. Plus, there’s an alfresco seating area for those who prefer to feel the evening breeze in their hair.

Food-wise, think Kilo’s signature brand of modern comfort plates with a new perspective. Thanks to the wood-fired grill, the menu now features charred sharing plates like pork ribs ($36), lamb shank ($35), burnt carrots ($12), beets with feta ($12), and kale salad with ricotta ($14).

Meanwhile, snacks include crispy chicken skin ($12) and crab croquettes ($8), and small plates range from wasabi tuna tartare ($22) and seafood ceviche ($23) to beef tongue tacos ($18) and squid ink rice ($29).

As for the drinks, you’ve got your usual cocktails, craft spirits, sakes, and wines sourced from South Africa to Argentina.

To sample a sip of the signature alcoholic concoctions, which are inspired by drinking cultures across the globe, try options like Nuita Marrakech ($19) of vanilla-infused vodka, house-made banana cinnamon liquor, jasmine tea, and egg white, Spicy Margarita ($19) made with jalapeño-infused tequila, or A Night to Remember ($18), a sweet blend of caramel-infused rum, orange liquor, orgeat syrup, and egg white.

However, the culinary line-up is very much still being tweaked, so if you pop by next year, you’ll find a more extensive selection of new creations, seasonal dishes, and weekend brunch offerings.
