It’s a sugary brain freeze: Rainbow snow covered with chocolates, candy and fruits

Seems like the rainbow trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, ’cause a colourful dessert place just opened up right outside Plaza Singapura (there’s no way you’ll miss the multi-hued signboard while walking or driving past). Founded by popular YouTube dude Jianhao Tan, WooW is the type of cafe where you’re most likely to find teens hanging out — what with its over-the-top sugary offerings and ridiculously Instagrammable presentations (although, let’s be honest, good looks don’t always translate into good taste).

Rainbow snow

The premise is simple: Pick your ice base (they all include vanilla ice cream and raindrop jellies), then pay extra for chocolate, candy, nuts or fruits. The flavoured snow ($8.90-$12.90) comes in six different varieties — strawberry, mango, yuzu, apple, cotton candy and taro — and if your indecisive nature gets the better of you, there’s the rainbow option that mixes them all together.

As for the toppings ($0.60-$1.80 each), expect rather standard ones like Kit Kat, M&M, chocolate pearls, gummy bears, marshmallows, Pocky sticks, oreo crumble, granola, kiwi, blueberries and grapes. If you want something a little more fancy, try the yogurt raindrops, ‘diamond sparklers’ (read: pop rocks) or honey comb add-ons.

And… that’s pretty much it. The menu may be limited, but at least you get to customise your own icy dessert. Just try not to go too crazy with the toppings or you’ll end up with an overflowing cup and a bill that’s way more than what you expected.

WooW is at #01-K1 Plaza Singapura, 6336-3633.
