Singaporeans looking for a tropical getaway without leaving the city can now head to Wheeler’s Tropikãna, a new bar and restaurant that opened in Gillman Barracks last month. The venue is the latest addition to the Wheeler’s Group, which also runs Wheeler’s Estate, Wheeler’s Yard, and Wheeler’s Festival.

Wheeler’s Tropikãna is a sprawling space that features an outdoor pool, lush greenery, colorful murals by local artists, and a cozy indoor dining area. The decor is inspired by the island of Bali, with ethically sourced and sustainable furnishings, such as rattan chairs, bamboo lamps, and recycled wood tables.

The menu showcases “Australasian” cuisine, which combines influences from Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Diners can expect dishes like octopus with smoked paprika aioli, grilled barramundi, and passionfruit tart.

The drinks list offers tropically curated cocktails, such as the Cocokana, a mix of vodka coconut, coconut, pandan brown sugar, and lemon juice; and the Drago, a blend of dragon rum, foamme, Kwai Fei lychee, lime juice, and simple syrup.

Wheeler’s Tropikãna also hosts regular events and promotions, such as live music nights, ladies’ nights, pool parties, and brunch specials. The venue can also be booked for private functions and corporate events.

The venue is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 11:30am to 11pm, Friday from 11:30am to 12am, Saturday from 9am to 12am, and Sunday from 9am to 11pm.
