Fill your belly with all things Japanese at Melt Cafe’s two-week-long food fair starring a sushi and sashimi station, a shabu shabu counter, and a selection featuring Japanese curries and udon noodles.
Work your way from the salad bar to the appetisers section, where you can pick up dishes like baby octopus, poached prawn and squid salad, pepper crusted tuna loin salad and chukka wakame. There’s also a European charcuterie and artisanal cheese display, but if you’re here for the Japanese delicacies, head straight to the sushi counter for nigiri sushi, maki rolls, ebi-fry hand rolls, temaki rolls and more.
But save space for Japanese shabu shabu, where thin slices of beef in soy-flavoured broth are served with furikake spice Japanese rice, as well as chawamushi with lobster, tako ball with tonkatsu and bonito flakes, and garlic fried rice.
Other items in the selection include mussels, white clams, oysters, roast meats, tandoori meats, duck confit and chilli crab from the European, Asian, Indian and seafood sections.
If, unbelievably, you’re still not full after all that, stroll over to the dessert table for mochi, yuzu vanilla sable tart, black sesame tea cake, a chocolate fountain and gelato.
