HOUSE at Dempsey’s new menu offers fried chicken waffles, bone marrow burgers and more

Next time you’re hankering for a leisurely weekend brunch amidst lush greenery, make a reservation for House at Dempsey (you gotta book in advance, ’cause this place fills up quickly on Saturdays and Sundays). The new menu includes comfort food additions that pack a punch, with vegetarian items for those who love their greens.

Baked Hokkaido scallops

For a start, try the baked Hokkaido scallops with spiced eggplant zaalouk and a generous topping of bread crumbs. If you’re dying for a hangover cure, the bacon and egg in naan might just do the trick. Think caramelised bacon strips and a sunny side up egg lathered in spicy tomato jam and cream cheese, and snuggled in a fluffy piece of grilled naan bread.

Otherwise, go big on meat and order the bone marrow and steak burger with bacon jam for a juicy bone marrow beef patty sandwiched between brioche buns and stuffed with fried onions, cabbage, provolone, spicy mayo and bacon jam. There’s also the ‘stinky meets crispy’ chicken waffles with a har cheong gai twist and sambal maple syrup.

The portobello schnitzel bun, fried chicken waffles, and BBQ jackfruit sliders

As for the vegetarian options, our fave is the portobello schnitzel bun — it’s a crunchy and creamy patty of breaded portobello and provolone nestled between a Tiong Bahru Bakery arugula bun with mint and apple green slaw, pickled cucumber and spicy mayo, plus a side of sweet potato fries. There’s also the BBQ jackfruit sliders, where braised young jackfruit masks as pulled pork and comes drenched in gula melaka BBQ sauce with pistachio guacamole. All that flavour combined with a serving of truffle fries will (almost) make you forget you’re not eating meat. And if you’re a pasta fiend, get the baked pumpkin and goat’s cheese rigatoni with onions and sage.

House at Dempsey is at 8D Dempsey Rd. Mon-Thurs noon-11pm, Fri noon-midnight, Sat 11am-midnight, Sun 9am-11pm.
