Hot or Not? ‘Mooncake cupcake’ at Fluff Bakery

What: Fluff Bakery, a hugely popular online bakeshop that’s about to move into its own brick-and-mortar store, has launched a special variety of cupcake to celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival in Singapore, which kicks off this week.

What’s hot: Don’t let the concept scare you—founder and lead baker Nursyazanna Syaira’s consistently light, fluffy mix maintains in this unique recipe. But if you’re a fan of the traditional mooncake like we are, you’ll enjoy this filling: a gooey white lotus paste with salted egg yolk that’s satiating, not cloying.

What’s not: To be very honest… nothing, except for the fact that you’ve got to be alert about when and where it’s going to be available next, and be prepared to queue… or run… or both.

Verdict: Hot, though not so that you’d cry if they ran out before you got there. Her other offerings are pretty damn good, too.
