COCONUTS HOT SPOT — Let’s get this out of the way. Hooters doesn’t really have that great a reputation as a legitimate eatery. Folks visit Hooters not so much for its fine dining and tasty beverages; they’re there to hang out amongst the company of Hooters girls, whose amped up sex appeal and flirtatious service is the primary element of the brand.
The concept wasn’t much of a hit when the first Hooters opened up in Clarke Quay — it’s become a rather meh watering hole that’s been accused of delivering bad, overpriced food and none of the vibrant atmosphere typically seen in its iconic American diners.
This year, the brand received a much needed injection by way of Bangkok-based franchisers Destination Group, which swooped in on the Hooters franchise with plans to expand it across Southeast Asia. Not exactly affiliated with the one in Clarke Quay, they’ve since launched two new Hooters outlets in the heart of two business districts: The Sail @ Marina Bay and Fusionopolis.
The focus on skimpy attire and sex appeal is drastically lower that what one would find in the American iterations — instead, it’s all about food and beverage here. Both restaurants have already won over folks with their extensive menu of over 50 food items consisting of standard bar fares such as burgers, tacos, sliders, nachos, and their world-famous wings — all of which can be washed down with an array of beers, ciders, margaritas and signature cocktails.
Aside from hearty American fare, the new outlets are focused on round-the-clock sports entertainment and regular promos that’ll have you chugging down all the beers and wings for cheap.
“We’ve identified Singapore as a prime market with a population that is very passionate about food and sports,” says Destination Group CEO Gary Murray.
“With our upcoming expansion in Singapore, we will bring Hooters’ signature hospitality, alongside the best of Hooters food and drinks.”
