Sometimes you just need a change. That’s what two-year-old cafe Hyde & Co did — it closed shop for a couple days and came back with an all-new, funky fresh concept: Take Hyde Out. Now you can choose to dine in or takeout, and you can do it easily via Facebook Messenger with a chat bot that will assist you in making table reservations or placing an order online.
As for what’s on the menu, expect small bites like beef brisket mantou and truffle fries, classics like mac and cheese or bolognese linguine, as well as pizzas with toppings such as kungpao chicken with a twist, roasted mushroom confit, and tom yum squid and shrimps.

More adventurous eaters can try Mod-Sin offerings like chilli crab pasta, laksa hae bee hiam (dried shrimp floss) linguine, gnocchi ‘mee rubus’ with sambal sotong and a poached egg, chye poh (pickled radish) prawn omelette pizza, or Norwegian smoked salmon pizza with mentaiko mayo and bonito flakes.
For the brunch fanatics, there’s the prawn paste chicken served on waffles with a sunny side-up, or you can go for standards like bacon, eggs, and roasted mushrooms on an English muffin.

Oh, and if you’ve been obsessed with unicorns and everything magical as of late, get the Unicorn Dreams dessert for a plate of ‘Paddlepop’ fondue drizzled over buttermilk waffles, topped with banana brûlée, buttered popcorn and a scoop of berries ice cream. If that’s a little too pastel for your liking (not everyone dreams of rainbow-hued foods), you’ve got good old options like bread and butter pudding or cinnamon apple with butter cookie crumble to choose from.
Wash all those calories down with cold brew teas such as Turkish apple, rose or mixed berries.
Take Hyde Out is at 785 North Bridge Rd, 6635-5785. Wed-Sat 11.30am-11pm, Sun-Mon 11.30am-6pm.
