Hit up this cafe if you fancy a ball of cotton candy suspended over your cup of coffee

Mellower Coffee, a cafe chain from Shanghai, has opened a chillax space along Robinson Road filled with cosy couches and industrial vibes. Amongst the coffees on the menu, one stands out for its unique concept.

Sweet Little Rain ($9.80), a creation by Mellower Coffee’s Korean barista champion, is basically a giant ball of cotton candy suspended in the air above a cup of Americano. It’s the steam from the java that rises up to melt the sugary treat, which in turn drips into the cup to sweeten it. The presentation is pretty, for sure, but you’ll have to wait patiently for the candy floss to melt — or risk getting impatient and tearing it off with your bare hands.

If you worry you’ll snack on the cotton candy before it has a chance to dissolve, go with the more standard orders of caffe latte ($6), iced americano ($5.20) or Mellower Dutch cold brew ($6.80).

Oh, and the cafe is set to open its bigger and shinier two-storey global flagship at Bugis in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for that.

Mellower Coffee is at #01-03, 77 Robinson Rd. Mon-Fri 8am-7.30pm, Sat 9am-4.30pm.
