If there was ever a moment when you were out for a night of mookata and you found yourself wondering what it’d be like to dunk those slices of grilled meats into a tub of gooey cheese, well, this one’s right up your alley. At Mookata Bugis Junction, the new cheesy grill sets are exactly what you’d expect — a platter of meats and seafood served with bowls of cheese.
How does it work? First, cook the slices of food on the grill, just like you would at any other mookata place. When they’re almost ready, pour the grated mozzarella and cheddar cheese into the side troughs, wait till they melt, and dip away. Just don’t leave the cheese on the grill for too long, or you’ll end up with burnt pieces.
The set that claims it’s for two to three people ($57.90) is actually better suited for two not-so-hungry diners. Included in it are baby back pork ribs, purple scallops, bacon enoki wraps, sausages, chicken thigh, squid, pork collar, corn and even bak kwa — but the portion sizes are rather small. So you might end up ordering more meats or an extra bowl of rice to fill you up. Or you could get the set for three to four people ($64.90) — it’s basically the same items, but in bigger bulk. There’s also the option of ordering crayfish ($12/four pieces) if you fancy slathering it in cheese.
And if you’re just there for the BBQ buffet, add $3.50 to your bill for a super gelat experience with free flow bowls of mozzarella and cheddar (we’d reckon this is way more value-for-money than the sets, especially if you’re hungry).
Mookata Cheesy Grill sets are available at Mookata, #02-53 Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria St.
