Professional queuers, listen up. The launch of Tai Cheong Bakery’s first outlet in Singapore is upon us, so start flexing those leg muscles to prep them for the long lines. Nestled at the food basement of Takashimaya in Ngee Ann City — where it popped up twice this year — the Hong Kong brand famous for its egg tarts will compete with Japan’s BAKE Cheese Tart and Hong Kong’s Honolulu Cafe (also serving up egg tarts) for the longest queues and the most enthusiastic fans.
At the takeaway counter, each tart costs $1.90, or you can get four for $7.60. Also on the menu are items like chicken pies, sponge cup cakes, butter egg rolls and char siew bolo buns.
