Go on a pub crawl across 3 bars without leaving the premises of this new hotel

Checked out the new JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach yet? The classy staycation spot boasts three concept bars in its premises, which means you have enough fuel to go bar hopping for one night without even leaving the area. There’s Court Martial Bar, which focuses on cocktail concoctions; Media Bar, a locally-influenced gastropub; and Tonic, a specialty gin bar.

Here’s a rundown of what’s what.

Court Martial Bar
L1, Assembly. Daily 5pm-midnight.

Named for the historical background of the building, this 55-seater cocktail bar features an array of homemade infusions and barrel-aged classics. Divided into three categories, the menu offers ‘Signatures’ such as The Heritage Sling ($22), its version of the Singapore Sling, and the South Beach Sour ($25) that’s basically a whisky sour with a splash of local ingredients. Under the ‘Re-defined Classics’ selection, you’ll find the Bloody Maria ($18) that’s made with a dash of dijon mustard, and a tropical blend called French 75 ($20).

If you’re keen on ordering a drink from the ‘Barrel-aged Classics’, try the Negroni ($23), a mix with sweet vermouth-infused raisins, or the Rum Ol’Fashioned ($23) with an infusion of barley syrup. Oh, and don’t forget to pad your stomach with a ‘bucket list’ of easy-to-munch-on snacks that include wagyu beef satay ($45), sriracha asparagus fritters ($29) and coconut prawn ($30).

Media Bar
L1, East Tower. Mon-Sat 11am-midnight.

A little more on the casual side, this 114-seater gastropub is all about local ingredients. Grab a seat at the bar and watch the flurry of activity in the open kitchen or fix your eyes on the TV screen bar counter. Nosh on BBQ wings with a pineapple-chilli glaze ($16), roti paratha rolls ($10), apple crumble ($12) or beef rendang buns ($20) before you wash it all down with happy hour booze.

Happy hour here goes from 11am to 8pm — pretty much all day — and you can get a pint of local craft beer for $12 or wines from $8. Of course, since it’s called Media Bar, media professionals get 1-for-1 perks until the end of June (just flash your namecard).

Cocktails

Tonic
Lobby. Daily 4pm-midnight.

This gin joint sits in the hotel lobby and highlights its exclusive range of East Imperial tonic and soda with a ‘Gin and East Imperial Pairings’ page in the menu, in case you’re unsure what goes well with what. There’s also a ‘Tonic Secrets’ list of gin-based cocktails for you to choose from.

If you’re feeling peckish, order bites like scallop ceviche ($22), the atas-sounding lobster popiah ($22) or camembert cheese with truffle honey ($35).
