Go green for this matcha buffet spread of macarons, mochi balls, Swiss rolls, and more

We don’t know ’bout you, but anything matcha is always a welcome sight in our books. (Unless said dish is some strange abomination of glorious green tea.) So if you can’t handle the sight of a cheese or chocolate buffet, perhaps a spread of matcha-flavored goodies is less overwhelming.

At Lewin Terrace, the new free flow dessert selection is all about powdered green tea leaves from Uji, Japan crafted into the recipes for madeleines, canelés, crème brûlées, macarons, warabi mochi balls, and Swiss rolls with adzuki beans. To gorge yourself on these petite treats — daintily, of course — at the Japanese-French restaurant, you’ll have to fork out $38. But if you’re feeling generous, toss in another $20 to get an appetizer and a main (as part of the lunch set menu) on top of the matcha buffet.

Given the steep price tags that usually come with dining at the elegant colonial bungalow, make it worth your while by sneaking a longer lunch break from the office to sweeten the deal.

Oh! Matcha Dessert Buffet is on from May 2-Aug 31; Tues-Fri noon-3pm at Lewin Terrace. $38/person.
