The Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner, and that means mooncakes galore, on every street and corner. Okay, we exaggerate. But when huge chains like Starbucks push their way into the action, you know you’ve got it easy when it comes to hunting for mooncakes.
This year’s new snow skin flavours come in four varieties. The pastel lavender and crunchy white chocolate pearl mooncake hides a subtle Earl Grey truffle surrounded by white lotus paste, while the mango with white lotus paste encases a passionfruit truffle.
For something richer, get the brownie with chocolate sea salt truffle. But if you’re a die-hard coffee lover, you’ll wanna try the Starbucks hazelnut macchiato blended with white lotus paste, with roasted hazelnuts and a milk chocolate truffle centre.
As for the traditional baked mooncakes, the usual offerings like white lotus paste with salted egg yolk or black sesame feature here. If you’d like a citrus twist to your mooncake, go for the yuzu white lotus paste with red bean. Of course, there’s also the Starbucks twist of coffee mixed with white lotus paste and topped with maple-roasted walnuts.
Available at all Starbucks stores. $52.90/box of eight baked mooncakes, $55.90/box of eight snow skin mooncakes.
