COCONUTS HOT SPOT — We’ve no shortage of burger joints in Singapore — shout out to fab eateries like Three Buns at Potato Head Folk, Omakase Burger and Fatboy’s — so it’s pretty ballsy for Los Angeles import 25 Degrees Burgers and Liquor Bar to open up shop on our shores, especially since MEATliquor and The Butchers Club Burger recently closed their doors for good (they will be missed). Named after the exact temperature difference between a raw and well done burger patty, 25 Degrees sits on the ground level of Hotel G Singapore, next to European bistro Ginett.

The space

Clad in red patterned wallpaper, the cosy space is casual yet classy; if you’re there for lunch, the glass windows open out so you can people-watch with ease. Only five burgers feature on the menu — three with beef patties, one with seared yellowfin tuna, and one veggie version.

The Number 4 with seared yellowfin tuna, butter lettuce, fried onions and spicy aioli

If you’re there for the first time, you can’t go wrong with Number One (the burgers are simply named by number) — it’s a 200g USA Angus beef patty layered with creamy crescenza, gorgonzola, smoky bacon strips, caramelized onions, and a drizzle of Thousand Island sauce.

At $14, it’s a rather affordable burger option, considering the portion’s pretty massive (but don’t expect it to come with fries). For those dropping by during weekday afternoons, get the lunch set ($18) for a smaller-sized burger, fries and a half pint of beer or soda. Speaking of fries, they’ve got truffle, sweet potato or curly ones here, along with dips that you can order from a massive range.

The lunch set

Picky eaters can have their burger and eat it all, thanks to the ‘Craft Your Own’ option on the menu. Build your fantasy burger from the range of meats, cheeses, toppings and sauces, with choices such as turkey, kurobuta pork, truffle brie, Canadian bacon and roasted red peppers. As for the sweet treats, they’re standard offerings like pancakes, waffles, cakes and French toasts. Alternatively, you could ditch those and go on a liquid dessert diet of chocolate, vanilla or marshmallow milkshakes.

Oh, and happy hour is 3pm to 7pm daily — this is when you can get one-for-one offers on all sides, selected beers and cocktails.

25 Degrees Burgers and Liquor Bar is at 200 Middle Rd. Mon-Thurs 11am-11pm, Fri & Sat 11am-1am.
