After two years of serving up fried chicken — first Thai-style at Ann Siang Hill and then Southern influenced at Frankel Avenue — Bird Bird has announced its retirement from the food scene in Singapore this month. Its official last day of operations will be Nov 26, but if you’re in the ‘hood before then, be sure to pop by for some finger lickin’ good plates of fried chicken, curly fries, mac ‘n’ cheese, cornbread waffles, and more.
Chef-owner Bjorn Shen, who also helms Middle Eastern joint Artichoke, did a shout out on Instagram to salute his team for helping Bird Bird clinch a couple awards during its short stint here.
“We all know the statistics when it comes to restaurants and cafes in Singapore; and how 7/10 don’t make it past the first couple of years,” Shen explained. “We played. We lost. But I’m glad we tried nonetheless.”
To bid its customers a final farewell, Bird Bird will be throwing a closing party ($39 for adults, $20 for children) on the weekend of Nov 24 to 26 for unlimited fried chicken, curly fries, and softie cups.
