In a country teeming with celebrity chef restaurants, Fratelli Trattoria knows it has to keep things fresh to constantly lure diners through its doors, and that’s what it has done with a menu revamp inspired by summer produce and harvests from Italy.

But these aren’t just any old recipes — they come from the hands of Italian celebrity chef brothers Enrico and Roberto Cerea, who were just in town earlier this month to present interpretations of classics from their three Michelin-starred restaurant, Da Vittorio, in Lombardy. Just in time, as Fratelli turns two this year.

A quick backgrounder, if you’re unfamiliar with the concepts by the Cerea siblings. Fratelli Trattoria is an intimate, dinner-only space that seats you right by the open kitchen so you can watch your food being prepared, while Fratteli Pizzeria is its casual neighbor that whips up pizzas and pastas with a crowd that comes through for buffet breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner.

Now back to the new menu additions. These heritage dishes, created with Da Vittorio’s family recipes in mind, are all about spotlighting fresh Italian produce, and signature pastas include linguine served with whole Boston lobster tail in a white bisque sauce, and carnaroli risotto with taleggio cheese, purple potato espuma, and baby spinach.

If you’re up for something on the light side, try the pan-seared sea bass paired with cardamom-scented green pea purée, baby vegetables, and a gooey egg yolk with a crisp outer shell. Or load up on protein with the organic yellow corn-fed chicken breast, braised leek, beetroot ketchup, and sautéed mushrooms.

As you’d expect, desserts here are nowhere near ordinary, with Fratelli’s version of cheesecake appearing in the form of soft cheese and raspberry mousse parfait coated in white chocolate, served with raspberry sorbet and raspberry textures. We — and the dessert glutton within us — only wish there were more of it.

Alternatively, try the trio of chocolate mousse with chilled passion fruit “soup” for a rich, yet tart end to your meal.

A four-course dinner here will set you back quite a bit, with prices starting from $108 per person, but still — that’s a whole lot more affordable than flying over to Italy for a seat at Da Vittorio.
