Don’t expect any fancy eggs benedict or matcha croissants at this café — it’ll be where real men can sip lattes while debating if José Mourinho is the right person to run Manchester United or not.
Nah, we don’t really know if they’ll be serving eggs benedict. What we do know is that two English Premier League legends — Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville — will be launching their football-themed cafe here sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
Simply named Cafe Football (yeah, that’s the best they could come up with), it’ll be the first time the franchise ventures beyond the UK. Of course, Singaporean tycoon and football enthusiast Peter Lim had a hand in setting up the football-themed hospitality franchise with Manchester United’s iconic “Class of ’92”. Along with Philip Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, the Manchester-based Hotel Football was set up beside Old Trafford.
As for Cafe Football, two outlets have already been set up in Manchester and in London. Gimmicks include menus categorised by ‘defence’, ‘midfield’ and ‘attack’, while dishes are named after common football phrases.
