Forget that unnecessary false alarm about Foodpanda delivery riders; they’re good lads just trying to make a living and their rice bowls shouldn’t be shattered by paranoid, distrustful Singaporeans. What the food delivery service plans to do by the end of this month should win back some customers: it’s launching its first ever dine-in and delivery kitchen.

Set to open on March 30 in Woodlands, Favourites by Foodpanda will be a satellite kitchen that assembles an array of items from nine different restaurants under one roof. Patrons of the 30-seater dine-in space will have the option to choose from (deep breath) Ichiban Bento, Crystal Jade Kitchen, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao, Coca Cola, Nene Chicken, Saap Saap Thai, Kaffe & Toast, Ben & Jerry’s, and Wingzone. The space and facilities at the kitchen concept are even offered rent-free to brands — in return for a percentage commission from their sales.

Delivery-wise, Favourites by Fodpanda will also offer customers within its 5km radius the chance to mix and match orders from the aforementioned restaurants with a single delivery fee. In this case, you can order some dim sum from Crystal Jade, spicy fried wings from Nene Chicken and a tub of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s without incurring three separate delivery charges.

“We are proud to be the first delivery company in Singapore to operate a dine-in restaurant, creating a fun and vibrant market kitchen atmosphere,” said Foodpanda Singapore managing director Luc Andreani. Aside from Berlin, Singapore is one of the first two cities to pilot the concept, and there are plans to open another two to three kitchen-restaurant hybrids here by the end of 2018.
