Just months after Food For Thought closed its Singapore Art Museum outlet last September at the tail-end of its lease, the social enterprise shuttered its biggest branch at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Sunday (Aug 13) marked the nearly six-year-old outlet’s final day of operations, after it wasn’t able to secure a new lease before its current one ends in October, reported TODAY.

What this means is that that the sole remaining Food For Thought cafe is located at the National Museum of Singapore.

According to the National Parks Board (NParks), Food Paradise Enterprise Holding will take over the 900 sqm space for business by early 2018. The company offered the highest bid of $15,015 after NParks called a tender with new requirements — including focusing on local food options with lower prices — in April.

Spize and Wangzai HongKong Cafe also put up bids for the licence, and Food For Thought’s bid ended up being the second lowest at $8,896, as seen by data from government procurement portal GeBiz.

But fret not — fans of the cafe can still look forward to visiting its soon-to-be-opened Food For Tots at the new extension of the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden, which is nestled in the Botanic Gardens. Due to open in November this year, the smaller eatery will be more kid-focused and targeted at families. It also aims to support the nutritional and educational needs of children from lower income families, and will host regular family-friendly festivals every quarter.
