So… there’s this famous dessert in Taiwan called the peanut ice cream roll. And it’s here in Singapore for the next two months, recreated by local dessert chain, Dessert Story. If you haven’t rushed out the door to get your hands on the old school snack yet, you probably have no idea what we’re talking about.
Basically, this is the first time the popular Taiwanese night market dessert is making an appearance on our shores — that pretty much explains the hype. The sweet treat itself looks like a spring roll, and it’s made by rolling up three scoops of coconut or yam ice cream, peanut candy shavings and coriander in a flour crepe.
Massive blocks of peanut candy, each weighing 25kg, have been imported from Taiwan by Dessert Story, so you know the taste is gonna be authentic.
The peanut ice cream roll is available from now till May 31 at Dessert Story outlets, including nex and Tiong Bahru Plaza. $3.50/single flavor, $3.90/double flavor.
