Foodies who are particularly passionate about Italian cuisine would undoubtedly have heard of or dined at the incredible Osteria Mozza Singapore. At its helm is, of course, famed American celebrity chef Nancy Silverton.
Initially a political science major in college, Chef Silverton eventually enrolled at London’s Le Cordon Bleu to kickstart her culinary journey – this training served as the foundation for her subsequent stints at Michelin-starred Michael’s, and Wolfgang Puck’s Spago. In 2007, Chef Silverton collaborated with other business partners and founded Osteria Mozza in Los Angeles; just the next year, the restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star.
Last year, Singapore became abuzz with news of Osteria Mozza’s reopening in Singapore at Hilton Singapore Orchard – the only Asian outpost of the L.A. original. With a rustic-modern aesthetic and an impressive floor-to-ceiling Vino Wall, the restaurant’s Cal-Italian menu includes both Osteria Mozza’s classic dishes as well as some Singapore-exclusive options.
In just a few weeks, Chef Silverton will be making an appearance in Singapore for a one-off Cal-Italian masterclass on September 10. Whether you’re a professional chef-in-the-making, or someone who just really appreciates good food, this is an exclusive opportunity to learn from one of our generation’s greatest culinary minds.
Here’s what lucky attendees can look forward to: upon arrival – settle in and enjoy light canapés to whet your appetite. Chef Silverton will kick off the masterclass by demonstrating how to make pesto from scratch – and because meals should also be a visual feast, she will impart upon you the art of plating with finesse, to help elevate your home cooking and dinner parties. After the session, you’ll get to take home your pesto creation in a jar, as well as a special mortar and pestle memento.
After the class, an exclusive luncheon will take place in Osteria Mozza’s Private Dining Room, featuring a three-course family-style sharing menu. You’ll be delighted with Chef Silverton’s signatures, such as sumptuous porcini-rubbed short ribs, burrata pizza with slow-roasted tomatoes, and homemade cookies from her upcoming cookbook – all accompanied by curated wine pairings. Conclude your memorable afternoon with an exclusive photo with Chef Silverton herself. This highly-personal experience will host just 10 lucky guests.
Fans of Burnt Ends’ wood-fired dishes and signature loaded sanger fries are going to salivate at this collaboration. For one day only on September 9, Chef Silverton and Burnt Ends’ founder Chef Dave Pynt are presenting a Four-Hands Cookout event at Osteria Mozza. Look forward to an exclusive taste of juicy, dry-aged beef burgers from Chi Spacca – a meat-focused Tuscan diner in Los Angeles also helmed by Chef Silverton. On top of limited-edition burgers, live grill stations will be serving up the Burnt Ends Beef Katsu Sando, Loaded Sanger Fries, and Osteria Mozza Singapore’s signature wood-fired pizzette. Throw in a pop-up cocktail bar and live DJ beats, and you already know this will be one of the hottest events in town that weekend.
