Local studio Make Your Own has been around in the DIY scene here since 2013, guiding craft enthusiasts in workshops to make everything from terrariums and copper lamps to leather coin pouches and card holders. For those who don’t have time to spare, it also offers project kit classes where you can learn calligraphy and the art of terrariums with the help of online pointers.

A couple months ago, the brand decided to switch things up a little, enhancing its DIY workshop experiences with drinks and desserts at its vegan-friendly cafe concept on Upper Aljunied.

The lush garden space, adorned with foliage and green motifs on its pillows, features a retail area stocked with indoor potted plants, terrariums, and copper lamps. Its ground floor HDB estate unit isn’t exactly the sort of place where you’d come for a meal; rather, it’s the kind of place where you can chill with a cuppa (if you’re in the neighborhood, that is), or sign up to get hands-on with crafts at a workshop while nibbling on a sweet treat or two.

On the limited menu, you’ll find egg-free and dairy-free items, such as the triple chocolate brownie ($4), chocolate walnut banana muffin ($3.80), and mushroom and vegetarian tofu frittata ($5.80). Pair your snack with sips of yuzu lemon cold brew tea ($3.80) or mint mocha ($5.30) to while the afternoon away.
