First, it was a food delivery platform. Then, it set up delivery-only super kitchens (with tiny dine-in areas) at Katong in 2017 and CT Hub 2 in 2018. Fast-forward to today, Deliveroo has launched its third Editions site, Deliveroo Food Market, at Alice @ Mediapolis. The brand’s biggest site in Singapore so far, the 40-seater dine-in space houses 10 kitchens, five self-serve kiosks, and 12 automated digital cubbies.

In a collaboration with San Francisco-based technology automation company eatsa, Deliveroo Food Market features an entirely automated ordering system in an effort to make the process fuss-free for customers. All you have to do is place your order at the self-serve kiosk, check the digital status board for when your number comes up, and collect your food from one of the 12 designated cubbies to dine-in or take away.

The place is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, so you can get your fill of Japanese, Korean, Greek, or Vietnamese. Seven restaurants offering 11 concepts have set up stalls here, with the likes of Omakase Burger, NamNam, and The Flying Squirrel.

Highlights include Bonchon’s fried chicken and dry spicy ramyeon, Rasa Rasa’s halal seafood zi char dishes like salted egg fried rice, Chop Shop’s rendang-style beef short rib grain bowl, Vietnamese pulled pork sandwich by Delismith, and curry katsu prawn from Ezo Hokkaido Eats. Plus, Lucky Souvlaki serves Greek street food such as beef skewers and lamb kebabs, while Vios allows you to build your own bowl of greens, grains, and protein.

Think of it as a digitalized food court with slightly higher prices (minus the human touch), which works if your office or home is nearby and you can’t bear to fork out an extra couple of bucks for the delivery fee.
