So you think you know your durians? A local retailer is hosting an educational course on the stinky fruit this durian season.

99 Old Trees, a retailer that brings in durians from Malaysian farms, is having its Durian Confidence Course where its durian experts will turn those interested into “durian connoisseurs” who know the tricks to choosing and buying the best durians out there.

“The durian is one of Singapore’s well-loved (and well-hated) fruits. However, one might face a series of thorny problems when buying it, for example, challenges when identifying quality durians or falling prey to overpriced ‘market rates’,” director Kelvin Tan said in a news release.

“It is our pleasure to be able to help educate the public and let them know we’ve got their back!” he added.

From now till July, the 90-minute course will include a crash course on identifying different durians from Malaysia, a “cheat code” on choosing the best ones, and how to open a durian.

What’s a food course without a tasting session? Sample six different cultivars and enjoy free-flow Mao Shan Wang to satisfy your durian fix.

There’s also a goodie bag that includes a ‘CID’ (Certified-in-Durian) T-Shirt, a squishy and more durian.

Also, the retailer will be providing its Anti-Durian Scam Hotline service to anyone who is unsure about whether their durians are of great quality by sending over a photo to their specialists via Whatsapp at 9822 2495.

Tickets are at S$128 or S$99 each for two tickets or more.

UPDATE: Dates have been changed, check their website for the latest slots available.
