Coming Soon: Homegrown breakfast food purveyor Merlion Granola

Love granola? You’re in luck and we mean really in luck.

Riding the wave of ‘makers and shakers’ in Singapore — more about that soon, we’re launching a whole new series about it — is former food editor Chin Hui Wen.

Merlion Granola, name of course inspired by the city symbol, will start off as an online shop selling five flavours of the wholesome breakfast food: Original (mango and nutmeg), 5Cs (curry, cashew nuts, chocolate, coconut and chilli flakes), Rojak (tamarind and pineapple with a touch of dark soy), Thai Mango Salad (mango, chilli, peanuts, basil and a touch of fish sauce) and Milo (Milo and chocolate chips). There’ll also be the Merlion Muesli made of cashews, mango, peanuts and pineapple for those who prefer something less rich.

Chin’s also planning to set up a granola club — members will get a surprise granola flavour each month. We won’t divulge too much, but flavours like bak kwa and nasi lemak are already in the pipeline. Also, if you have some crazy (but delicious-sounding ideas) you’d like to see bear fruit, Chin’s happy to indulge.

Merlion Granola will sell for $15 (a 300g bag) and $18 (300g jar). Select flavours will also go at $4 per 50g snack pack.

Excited? The launch is in March, but we don’t have the exact date yet. Watch this space.

Update: Merlion Granola is now Eastern Granola
