There are so many reasons to go vegan. You get a hot bod, improve your health, and even your skin glow. And to celebrate World Vegan Day, we’ve teamed up with the wine-loving mofos at Vinomofo to chat about vegan wines.
”It’s a pretty exciting time for vegan wines and we can only see more, high-quality wines being produced in a vegan manner,” says Vinomofo’s Wine Expert Eddie Schweitzer (aka Eddie The Wine Guy).
Wait, what? Wine isn’t already vegan?
A lot of people are under the impression that wines are already vegan, they’re just grapes right?! Well it turns out that animal products can be used in the final stage of the winemaking process.
The reason for this is mostly centered around a wines aesthetics, however consumers have become much more forgiving about cloudy and murky wines thanks largely to the natural wine movement.
Winemakers are also choosing to use vegan options, like Bentonite, to clarify the wine instead.

This wine is both vegan and minimal intervention. There’s stonefruit and lemon curd, along with a roundness but rubberband-like snappiness that gives the wine a freshness to balance its fleshiness. It’s perfect for those epic Singaporean sunny afternoons.
Cambridge Road Papillion Rosé 2017
Nothing beats a chilled glass of rosé. This wine smells very pinot-driven, with fragrant cherry blossom, quince, wild strawberry and raspberry, fresh basil and sage. It gives apple on the palate and has a crunchy cleanliness to it. In short, it’s lovely, fruity, dry and savory.
Cambridge Road Animus Pinot Noir 2013: SG$54
Curl up on the couch with a glass of this and you’ll be in vegan heaven. It’s fruit-driven on the palate in a sour cherry tart kind of way, woven between smoked oak. Bright, medium-bodied, clean and powerful – yes, please!
