Festive food for 2018: Here are the best Yuletide dinners and drinks in Singapore this Christmas

‘Tis the season … to toss aside any guilt from over-boozing and binge-eating. If you’re in that year-end feasting kind of mood, then good news: Plenty of restaurants across the island are more than happy to indulge those seasonal pig-out sessions and bottomless wallets.

Butcher Boy

Inject a little life into your Sundays with The Butchers Brunch, which consists of your pick of roast meats ($35) like beef, pork belly, or lamb rump, and roast chicken stuffed with chestnut herb brioche ($78/two). Limited edition tipples like Santa’s Little Helper, made of aperol and plum spirit, are also available.

Munch your way through the dishes at Club55’s Christmas Eve spread ($180), where charcuterie and fresh seafood are displayed alongside juicy meats and roast turkey carvings. As you pause between each round at the buffet, take in the glittering views of Marina Bay at night.

The East-side rustic bakehouse brims with hearty Christmas goodness in the form of two festive dishes prepped in its signature wood-fire ovens. Both the home-style slow-cooked chicken with trumpet mushrooms ($55) and Christmas kugelhopf ($25) of sourdough studded with rum-infused raisins and orange blossom syrup are available for dine-in and takeaway, but remember to get your pre-orders in before popping by.

Do Christmas, Eurasian-style, at Folklore, where spices reign supreme and heritage recipes give you a comforting taste of home. Highlights on the menu (from $30 for mains) include dry mutton curry, vindaloo (bone-in pork chop curry), white debal (chicken and house-made achar cooked in rempah, vinegar, and mustard seed), and bolu cocu (coconut sponge cake).

Le Binchotan

Keep those Yuletide vibes going strong with supper at Le Binchotan, where you can wolf down the eatery’s version of “bak kut teh” ($19) alongside a glass of fruit cake ($21)… cocktail. The local favorite is made with kurobuta pork ribs, spring onion oil, and charcoal dough fritters, while the drink appears here as a rum concoction flavored with mandarin marmalade and apricot liquor.

Little Creatures

For a chillax Christmas with loads of beer, hit up Little Creatures for its festive offerings (38/three-course set) like smoked duck salad, beef tenderloin, turkey with chestnut, apple, and cranberry sauce, and Christmas pudding.

Maggie Joan’s

This cozy back alley hideaway is offering three-course lunch ($42) and dinner ($62) menus that start you off with a prawn cocktail, before moving on to roasted turkey with chestnuts and brussels sprouts, ending with an eggnog parfait of bourbon-infused mousse and golden raisin milk ice cream.

Monti

Bask in the lively tunes of jazz next to the waters of Marina Bay at the Italian restaurant, which is hosting an all-you-can-eat brunch spread for Christmas. It’ll set you back $98, but you’ll be feasting on cold cuts, roasted meats, and desserts, with a 90-minute unlimited prosecco buffet for an extra $48.

Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora

Feeling a little fancy? Have a $238 dinner next to the aquarium at Ocean Restaurant, where the six-course menu features plates like herb butter Hokkaido scallop, lobster bisque with Grand Marnier cream, and strawberry champagne sorbet.

OverEasy

Besides OverEasy’s Festive Fowl ($68), an 18-hour marinated beer-can chicken, the merry menu features jolly cocktails like Gin-gle Jangle ($16) of gin, raspberry, lemon, and green tea, or Keep It Toasty ($16), made with whisky, puréed smoked maple, and angostura bitters.

Graze your way through dinner at Skirt, where the $68 menu takes you from a platter of Sri Lankan crab toast and caviar with truffled arancini to mains like Red Emperor snapper and Challan duck breast. To pair your meal with glasses of wine, add $38 to your bill.

Straits Cafe

This halal-certified eatery whips up a spread of regional fare (from Penang, Ipoh, KL, and beyond) alongside holiday classics such as roasted turkey with cranberry sauce, log cakes, and an array of cupcakes, candies, and cookies. Live stations include seafood delicacies, hearty meats, and local noodle dishes.

Super Loco at The Quayside

Have a Mexican-style Christmas, or “Mex-mas”, why don’t you. At the funky riverside joint, you get six to eight dishes ($50-$70) influenced by traditional Christmas flavors, such as shredded turkey tortillas and Mexican Christmas cakes. To go all out, top up $50 for the free-flow drinks selection.

The Black Swan

Make a date with your partner at The Black Swan where, for $188, both of you can dig in to wagyu ribeye, lamb t-bone, sausages, and grilled zucchini, with optional add-ons like Maine lobster, foie gras, and mac & cheese, should you feel extra hungry.
