The seventh edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars is almost here, and today it teased nine Singapore drinking holes that almost reached the top.

In the run-up to announcing the top 50, the coveted drinking guide named those ranking 51st to 100th. They were:

D.Bespoke (No. 58), Smoke & Mirrors (No. 60), Papa Doble Bar (No. 61), Live Twice (No. 65), Origin Grill & Bar (No. 66), Shin Gi Tai (No. 75), Employees Only (No. 77), Barbary Coast (No. 95), and Junior The Pocket Bar (No. 98).

The list included bars from 24 Asian cities with Singapore and Japan leading with nine each, followed by Hong Kong with five, and Bangkok, Seoul and Taipei with four each. A Nepalese bar made its debut in the 96th place with Blackbird in Kathmandu.

No Russian bars were included in the list due to its invasion of Ukraine.

In Southeast and East Asia, notable entries included Hong Kong’s Tell Camellia (No. 53), Honky Tonks Tavern (No. 55) and Quality Goods Club (No. 56); Manila’s The Curator (No. 62) and Oto (No. 63); Bangkok’s Teens of Thailand (No. 64) and Smalls (No. 69); and Kuala Lumpur’s Three X Co (No. 70) and Coley (No. 100).

The ranking’s top 50 bars in Asia will be announced live in Bangkok and online Thursday night.
