If you missed out on the action over the weekend, just know that Miss Universe 2017 took place in Las Vegas on Sunday, and we had 24-year-old Manuela Bruntraeger rep our Little Red Dot. Unfortunately, the beauty didn’t walk away with the coveted crown, but she did get to don a costume inspired by Gardens by the Bay – specifically, the Supertree Grove.

Sashaying down the walkway in an extravagant get-up studded with Vanda Miss Joaquim flowers and glowing LED lights, Bruntraeger’s costume was crafted by local designer Moe Kasim.

It was pretty cool and all, but we’re such a food-obsessed country (just count the number of blogs and social media accounts dedicated to our insatiable appetites) that perhaps a local dish would’ve been a better representation of Singapore.

Behold, these sketches by the Singapore Tourism Board – obviously drawn up by a very hungry designer. They’re basically what we’d look like if we could wear our favorite dishes – such as carrot cake, wonton mee, satay and, of course, our national cake, the pandan chiffon – for convenient snacking.

Delicious, no?
