Brace yourselves, Home Club regulars: Canvas Singapore opens this month

Before most of the Home Club faithful have finished mourning the closure of the venue, its spiritual successor Canvas Singapore will open its doors later this month with a soft launch on July 18 and a grand opening on July 30.

Conceptualised by the team behind Home Club and Bangkok-based Bed Concepts, Canvas will provide “audio-visual, multi-media, interactive entertainment”, serving as an art gallery by day and a lounge/nightclub after hours.

Doesn’t seem very far off what it used to be — why fix something that’s not broken?

According to co-founder Roy Ng, Home Club used to be a launching pad for artists and musicians — it’s now moving towards showcasing talent not just from Singapore, but internationally.

But that doesn’t mean Home Club regulars will not longer be able to relate.

“Canvas Singapore will offer many of the same things Home Club regulars have come to expect. We’ll be bringing back many of the same programmes, like comedy nights, for example, but in a more curated form that we feel will appeal to them,” said Ng.

Ng and his long-time friend Mahen Nathan from Bed Concepts are planning on setting up Canvas venues throughout the region. “Once all of these other locations are up, we’ll be bringing artists and musicians from one venue to another, giving them a greater platform to showcase their art,” Ng divulged.

Entrance to the day gallery is free, cover charges apply on club nights.

Keep up to date with Canvas Singapore on their website and Facebook page.
