After a couple years of whipping up Asian fusion food for diners at Robertson Quay hotel M Social Singapore, Beast & Butterflies has clicked refresh on its menu and added in new dishes and cocktails.

To make things easier for you, the restaurant’s menu is divided into two categories: Beast and Butterflies. The former offers a selection of hearty dishes that’ll fill you right up, while the latter goes lighter on the ingredients and flavors, so you won’t fall into a food coma immediately after.

To start off, the tomato latte ($9) with capsicum foam, bacon bits, and basil oil pearls will cleanse your palate nicely. Follow that up with scallop carpaccio ($26) in a yuzu and sesame marinade topped with crispy garlic and fried shallots, or sip on a bowl of collagen soup ($18) made of fish cartilage and pork bones.

As for the new items, the scallion soy barramundi ($26) is a rather standard plate of baked fish with spring onions and ginger, while the Szechuan lamb steak ($38) packs a punch with coconut-infused sweet potato mash, broccolini, and baby carrots.

If you’re already a loyal customer, fret not, for signatures like the Teochew-style lobster porridge ($38), a comforting crab broth swimming with abalone, scallions, and bonito flakes, and the crispy pork knuckle ($26/half portion, $36/full portion), paired with sesame-scented sauerkraut and dipping sauces like nam jim and hoisin, still remain on the menu.

Wash down your meal with eight new cocktail concoctions ($19), from a bacon-infused whiskey drink with homemade ginger syrup to a rum blend with pandan and gula melaka to a mix of gin, peach liqueur, raspberry, and sparkling wine.

To end off on a sweet note, look past the ubiquitous chocoholic ($12) — it’s basically one of those typical chocolate dome creations —  and reach for the smooth and creamy yam brûlée ($12) instead for bites of the sweet yam dessert topped with caramelized sugar and served with a scoop of refreshing coconut ice cream.
