Our list of fancy mega clubs and indie underground hangouts just keeps growing — come 2019, the glitzy and glamorous Marquee nightclub will make its Asia debut at Marina Bay Sands. Oh, and did we mention its colossal space features a fully operational, eight-armed ferris wheel with a photo booth in each pod? Yep, an actual carnival ride. In a club.

Definitely haven’t seen that before in Singapore.

Run by the Tao Group, which brought in restaurant/bar Lavo to the rooftop of MBS earlier this year, the Marquee brand was founded in New York City in 2003, with subsequent expansions to Las Vegas and Sydney, Australia. Those immersed in the swanky international nightlife scene may have seen big name acts like Dash Berlin, Kaskade, Paul Oakenfold, and Travis Scott perform at the other sites across the globe.

Apparently, Marquee Singapore won’t just come out looking like the rest. For one, you can ride the ferris wheel for a different view of the high-ceilinged, three-story space, formerly occupied by one of the two theaters at the mall. Also, the decor and vibes are influenced by grown-up amusement parks and music festivals, captured in an indoor arena.

However, despite all its grand gestures, we can’t forget how two highly-hyped establishments, Avalon and Pangaea — both of which attempted to lure in an upmarket crowd — opened in 2011 at MBS and quietly shuttered a few years later.

So here’s to bigger and better parties at this upcoming clubbing hotspot. If you want to keep tabs on Marquee’s debut here, follow its Instagram page for updates.
