This month, Singapore plays host to several wine events, including festivals and food pairings where you’ll get to sample hundreds of varieties from wineries all over the world. Complimentary masterclasses about all things wine will also be held — so for those interested in leveling up from wine newbie to almost-connoisseur, this is your chance. Check out the events below.
The third edition of this weekend event by Singapore’s first online wine store Ewineasia.com sees four highlights over three days. The Wine Discovery Walkabout Tasting is probably the most popular and accessible one — for $45, you can taste over 100 wines, meet the winery reps and attend complimentary masterclasses to learn about things like organic and biodynamic wines or the fine wines of Spain. Other events include a dim sum and wine pairing brunch, a wine discovery dinner at two Michelin-starred Shisen Hanten and a four-course wine and dine experience at Skirt.

Hailed as Singapore’s largest outdoor wine festival, the annual Wine Fiesta by The Straits Wine Company features over 350 wines from 70 international wineries at this year’s shindig. Set to the theme of ‘Rising Roots’, in line with the growing trend towards sustainability, the fest will offer five up-and-coming names focusing on natural, organic and biodynamic wines. Plus, browse through the list of free masterclasses to stock up not just on bottles but knowledge as well. There’s also a Winemaker’s Table buffet dinner paired with over 75 wines that you can splurge on.

This one’s a more intimate session — complete with a glittering cityscape view. Sit down for a wine tasting session with legendary Napa Valley winemaker Paul Hobbs, who’s been touted ‘The Steve Jobs of Wine’ by Forbes and crowned ‘Wine Personality of the Year’ twice by Robert Parker. You’ll get to hear from the man himself about his expertise and insights on wine making, and sip on five varieties from Paul Hobbs Winery paired with signature Spago plates such as spicy tuna tartare cones.
