When Hello Kitty Orchid Garden first opened at Changi Airport Terminal 3 back on May 12 in 2016, there were queues. Long lines of diehard fans waited patiently for their turn to snap selfies with the iconic Sanrio character. It was Singapore’s first themed cafe for Hello Kitty, and people were all for it.

But fast forward to 2018, and the cafe has just revealed that it will shutter for good on February 8 next year, just a couple months before what would’ve been its third anniversary. Guess all the Hello Kitty supporters in the world (at least those who visited Singapore) couldn’t save it from its eventual demise.

According to operator Europa Specialty Restaurant, the end of its license and partnership with Sanrio was the reason for Hello Kitty Orchid Garden’s closure.

Anyway, if you’d like to put your kawaii phase to rest for good, the eatery is throwing farewell tea parties over two weekends in December. While you take your final photos at the lush space, browse through the discounted merch corner, and participate in games and quizzes, you can nibble your way through bite-sized versions of signature dishes such as smoked salmon quiche and pandan panna cotta.

However, goodbye comes at a cost. A ticket for two will set you back $138, and it comes with food and drinks, limited edition figurines, and autographed “thank you” cards that you can add to your Hello Kitty collection.

Hello Kitty Orchid Garden’s Farewell Tea Parties are on Dec 8-9 & 15-16, 2pm-4pm at Arrival Hall Central #01-22, Terminal 3, Changi Airport. Tickets can be purchased from Oct 12.
