This festive light display at Universal Studios Singapore just broke a Guinness World Record

2016 has been quite a history-making year for us, and Universal Studios Singapore just contributed another title to our Little Red Dot’s collection when it broke the Guinness World Record for the largest light bulb display in an indoor space. Lit up with 824,961 bulbs, the sound stage hosting festive light installation ‘Universal Journey’ is pretty much covered from floor to ceiling in sparkling rainbow lights. Seriously, there are bulbs everywhere you turn, in every hue under the sun.

Eight zones feature in the illuminated space — which opens up with glittering lights against a dark sky — from the Enchanted Pine Forest to Herald’s Square. There are trees made entirely out of lights, a psychedelic tunnel, a Christmas village and even larger-than-life gifts gleaming with colour.

Part of Santa’s All-Star Christmas celebrations at USS, this record-breaking display goes hand in hand with the theme park’s transformation into an enchanted wonderland. Also look out for two new experiences: A picturesque Santa’s Village with talking reindeer, Santa on his sleigh and the Gingerbread Man, as well as musical production Bah Humbug! A Christmas Spectacular, starring characters like the Minions, the Snow Queen and Sesame Street friends.

Plus, since it’s the holiday season, park hours will extend until 9pm each night, and there will be fireworks displays, hourly snowfall and light shows to get you in the Yuletide mood.

Here’s a sneak peek at the light display, which will open in December.

Santa’s All-Star Christmas is on from Dec 1-Jan 2 at Universal Studios Singapore. Adults $74, children $56, seniors $36; an after 5pm family bundle for two adults and one child is available for $134, includes retail and dining vouchers.
