Easy Taxi is no longer with us

No one said it would be easy, right Easy Taxi? The Brazil-based startup has left Singapore without the courtesy of saying goodbye after barely two years in the Little Red Dot. You can all delete their app now.

The Straits Times spoke to a spokesman who confirmed that the company was “scaling down operations in the region” and concentrating on markets in Latin America, Middle East and Africa. The last time post on its Facebook page was in July to promote a tieup with Maybank. It has not yet given an official statement, and the app’s map function still opens, but there are no taxis that can be booked.

According to the ST report, Easy Taxi’s Kallang Avenue office was locked and that it once employed 50 staff and had over 20,000 taxi drivers on its network.

We’re kinda not surprised, though. Easy Taxi also left Taiwain last New Year’s Eve, and Hong Kong and Indonesia a month before that. Easy Taxi in the Philippines also stopped operating around April.
