The idea of Tokyo, an abstraction more easily recognisable than the really-existing city, figures in its pristine facades, its neon signboards and it’s stoic peoples. However, a quick stroll around the city reveals that Tokyo’s surfaces are adorned by unique expressive urban art that grants admirers an informative insight into the normally inscrutable zeitgeist of Japanese society. Japanese sticker art exhibits a profound difference to the Singaporean version. The Japanese versions come off as more emotional and angst making a subtle deliberate point through cynicism rather than humour. If you’re making plans to visit the Japanese capital some time soon, you owe it to yourself as an art connoisseur to see these post punk art pieces for yourself.
