Another five crooked Sim Lim Square salesmen facing charges of cheating

Jover Chew and the rest of his Mobile Air cronies aren’t the only ones swimming in the septic tank — fellow crooked Sim Lim Square retailers Gadget Terminal are also being dragged to court to face the music.

Last December, the Gadget Terminal store was raided by police, while five of its salesmen were arrested. The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) stated that the tech retailers topped Sim Lim Square’s shitlist, with 14 complaints lodged against them from September to November in 2014.

Channel NewsAsia reports that 34-year-old Chung Choong Cheik, 36-year-old Justin Chew Chee Kin, 32-year-old Lin Fa Cai, 40-year-old Tan Wei Ping and 30-year-old Lim Wei Sheng have been charged with one to eight counts of cheating.

At one time, Chung conspired with Justin Chew to trick a customer into believing that a Xiaomi Mi 4 mobile phone would be sold at $380 — but then the latter “dishonestly induced” the customer to hand over $1,000.

The five men are accused of committing the cheating offences over a period of 13 months from October 2013 to November 2014 while employed at Gadget Terminal.

Lin, Lim and Justin Chew are expected to plead guilty on Nov 12. For Tan, investigations against him are still ongoing and may have more charges filed. Chung’s next hearing is on Nov 19.
