The xx Live in Manila: 5 Cuts We Want to Get “X’d”

In a few hours, Manila can finally get to see the decorated English indie-pop trio live on stage with their hipster-friendly tunes (and with ticket prices soaring from P5,880 for the Gold section and P3,960 for the Silver section, it’ll definitely should be worth it!)

From what we’ve seen of their previous sold-out concerts (courtesy of YouTube, of course) xx fans can surely say that burning those four thousand bucks is definitely worth it for the xx experience.

See, the band boils down their music to its finest core, just a pure fusion of melodically synched instruments, with haunting melodies and oft-echoed vocals that add up to that “shiver to the spine” moment.

Nothing fancy, no extra huge balloon baby swallowing half of the stage, or unlimited confetti that continuously pours down at the end of every song. The band is no fan of humongous display or effects. Is it worth the four thousand bucks you’re going to burn? Definitely, yes.

And it’ll be more sulit if they’ll play these five cuts that we carefully picked and wish they’ll play.

The first time we heard this cut from their self-titled album, there was a weird thought that played inside our head: This is a perfect wedding song. The deep toned voice, the excellent duet exchange, plus the guitar riff highlighting the song’s climax. The only thing missing is the bride.

Which you may have already heard on the radio. This is the band’s most popular song by far. Its YouTube music video has even reached over 30 million views. This one’s a no-brainer.

It’s all about the beat that’ll thump your heart ‘till the end. Label this cut as one of the good products of the tugs-tugs element.

Together – OST from the Great Gatsby

Aside from carefully sewing together a trailer from The Great Gatsby, Together, serves as the “pill” from this set. The track slow development creates a hypnotic eargasm all through out.

If you’re watching the gig with your other half, make sure to memorize the lyrics of this song. Trust us on this.

The xx: Live in Manila will be happening tonight, July 30, 2013 at the NBC Tent at 8PM. Front acts will be Taken By Cars and Up Dharma Down. Make sure to chug a bottle or two before going!
