Viber is looking for the next best sticker artist!

Got a tip? Send it to us at manila@coconuts.co.

Viber, as we all know, is a private messaging app with one of the most makulit sticker collections. The good news: they aren’t stopping with what they’ve got. In fact, Viber has just launched “Sticky Fingers.” It’s a global sticker design contest done in collaboration with worldwide creative community Talenthouse.

Here’s the deal: create a Sticky Fingers character — girl, boy, bakla, tomboy, animal, tofu, what-have-you.  Make your character cool, positive, fun, and expressive. Render your character in one of the three basic emotions: happy, sad, and in love, and then submit your design in either a jpeg or PNG format.

Don’t forget to include your character’s name along with a brief description about him or her. Submit your entry by 1am (Philippine time) on April 16, Thursday, at this website

This is an awesome way for you to get your art out there, not to mention to make a few extra moolah on the side. According to Viber’s press release, last year alone, Viber’s 516 million global users have sent more than 22 billion stickers.

“The idea behind ‘Sticky Fingers’ is to surface and support the best new talent from across the world,” says Viber’s Chief Marketing Officer Mark Hardy.

While the contest will only have one winner — to be selected by a panel that includes Viber Creative Director Erez Shocher and CMO Mark Hardy — there will be ten selected finalists who will receive USD1,000. A consolation prize of USD500 will be given to the most shared submission, too. Not too bad, no?

The selected winner will work with the Viber Design studio to turn the winning character into a fully developed commercial sticker pack. The sticker pack in turn will be sold in Viber’s Sticker Market, with the winner receiving a share of the revenue every time a sticker pack is bought.

A few more reminders: Don’t build a character around the Viber logo, forget about the existing characters, and no photographs, please. Your character needs to be a completely original design. And if Viber may suggest: don’t make it too intricate. Your sticker will have to work on a small screen format.
