Anticipating the influx of crowds at the Manila South Cemetery, the Makati City government has decided to close some streets so that their personnel could manage the foot traffic easier.

In a Philstar.com report, Public Safety Department officer-in-charge Elmer Cabrera said the following streets will be closed to traffic starting midnight of Oct 31 to midnight of Nov 2:

1. Kalayaan Avenue (from Zapote to F. Zobel)

2. South Avenue (from Metropolitan to J.P. Rizal)

3. Vito Cruz (from South Avenue to Zapote)

4. Nicanor Garcia (from Jupiter to J.P. Rizal)

5. Pililia (from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan)

Thus, starting midnight of Oct 31 to midnight of Nov 2, two-way traffic will be allowed in the following areas:

1. J.P. Rizal (from Pasong Tirad to Makati Avenue)

2. Kalayaan Avenue (from F. Zobel to Makati Avenue, and from Pasong Tirad to Zapote)

The report added that “police assistance posts will be put up around the Manila South Cemetery to provide security for the general public and monitor and confiscate prohibited items, including firearms, bladed weapons, liquor and loudspeakers or amplifiers.”
