Maybe he thought it was OK?
“During Wednesday’s hearing on his PHP4.45 million tax case at the Department of Justice, Zoren Legaspi’s accountant Flora Capili admitted the actor has four tax identification numbers (TIN),” reports ABS-CBN News correspondent Ina Reformina on ABS-CBNnews.com.
The report noted: “Possessing more than one TIN is prohibited under the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) because it may be used as a a tool to evade payment of correct taxes.”
The report went on to explain: “For instance, a taxpayer who earns P500,000 and above should be taxed 32% for his income. If this taxpayer possesses several TINs, he will be taxed less.”
Capili likewise added that while Legaspi paid taxes, there were “discrepancies” committed.
But Capili’s statements, which were deemed incriminating to her client, were ordered stricken off the record by Assistant State Prosecutor Stewart Allan Mariano because she was not assisted by a lawyer when she made the revelation.
The report said that “Mariano gave Legaspi up to June 6 to submit his counter-affidavit and be represented by counsel.”
